lumpen projects is a multi-dimensional space for experimental comics, illustration and similar.
The primary mission of lumpen projects is to explore the medium's artistic and literary possibilities as an important experimental art form.
LP's first project is lumpen archives, a no-profit & free to use ongoing digital archival resource of previously published comics + visual zines. At the moment the collection includes 100 titles from different publishers, artists, eras and countries. It stores creator's info, details on each of the books and ~ where available ~ useful links to support the artists / publishers directly.
The aim of lumpen archives is to collect and digitally document independent publications made by comic artists, and with time become a useful point of reference for discovering new and different narratives.
History has taught us the importance of documenting through archival work, but it also taught us that what is considered 'valuable' and 'worthy of remembering' has always been filtered through the art establishment's rigid politics of exclusion.
Because of this comics have been framed as objects of commodity with little to no artistic or literary value. The intention of lumpen archives is to show that this couldn't be further from the truth.
~ lumpen archives will be updated and new books will be uploaded regularly, but with no particular schedule. If any information is missing, is incorrect or has changed, or if you have any feedback regarding this website, get in touch with the email provided below ↓
